What are the Scottish Learning Disability Awards?
The Scottish Learning Disability Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate, on a national level, the rarely heard stories and achievements of people with learning disabilities and the people who support them. Scottish Learning Disability Week and the Scottish Learning Disability Awards 2020 are a platform to celebrate the contribution of people with learning disabilities in their communities across Scotland.
The Scottish Commission for Learning Disability (SCLD) hosts the annual Scottish Learning Disability Awards, which are the culmination of activities taking place across Scotland as part of Scottish Learning Disability Week. The Awards are held annually in May.
There are 8 Award Categories for 2020. Each award category has a judging panel to make sure each nomination is assessed fairly.
The finalists are filmed and their stories are shown at the Learning Disability Awards ceremony where they are presented with their awards at a gala event.
This year there are 8 award categories which cover a wide variety of topics, interests and achievements:
- Community Champion
- Skills and Learning
- Social Impact
- Employee Recognition
- Creative Innovation
- Sport Achievement
- Family Carer and their Relative
- Living your Best Life
