Statement: Farewell Charlie, welcome Linda
The Board of SCLD said its farewells to its Chief Executive, Charlie McMillan earlier today (4 Sept 2024), thanking him for his incredible service over the past five and a half years.
Commenting on Charlie’s departure, Eddie McConnell, Chair of the Board said: “We owe Charlie a huge debt of gratitude for the work he has done in advancing the human rights of people with learning disabilities, all over Scotland. He has led the team at SCLD through a series of challenging years and he has positioned people with lived experience at the very heart of our organisation. We wish him well for whatever comes next and we know he will remain an ally of our movement for change for many years to come.”
The Board has also confirmed that Linda Mitchell (currently Head of Delivery at SCLD) has been appointed Acting Chief Executive, while the search for a new Chief Executive of SCLD continues.
Eddie continued: “We are delighted that Linda will become our Acting Chief Executive in this interim period. Linda is so well respected across the sector and she will lead the team at SCLD brilliantly as we complete our current recruitment process and find our next Chief Executive.”
