Rights. Equality. Inclusion.
Rights. Equality. Inclusion. sets out SCLD’s priorities for building a Scotland where everyone with a learning disability can live a full, safe, loving, and equal life.
Our priorities are evidence-based and have been shaped by people with learning disabilities, their families and the organisations that support them.
We have identified four key areas we think will make the biggest difference in addressing the long-standing inequalities and discrimination people with learning disabilities experience:
- Human rights and law reform to tackle discrimination and strengthen protections and accountability.
- Independent living and an end to inappropriate hospital or institutional placements.
- Health, social-care and wellbeing, addressing avoidable deaths and inequitable access to support.
- Inclusive design and access to mainstream services so that society works for everyone.
SCLD believes Scotland has a responsibility and an opportunity to act – and that the time for change is now.
We invite you to read Rights. Equality. Inclusion. and consider what role you might play in shaping a fairer, more inclusive future for people with learning disabilities in Scotland.
