Support in Work Award

The award

The employment rate of people with learning disabilities is estimated to be around 7%. Attitudes and approaches to the support of employees with learning disabilities must improve if these statistics are to change. The Support in Work Award will recognise someone who has worked to break down barriers to employment, and has led the way towards creating an inclusive workplace by supporting an employee with learning disabilities.

Good support in work is vital, not only to an employee’s ability to do their job well, but to their professional development, social life, and ability to live an independent life as an active member of a community.

Helpful information

For this category, the judges will be looking for nominations which fit the following criteria:

  • Provide examples of how the person has supported people with learning disabilities in the workplace to maintain and advance in their careers
