The Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) has today confirmed that its Chief Executive, Dr Simon Webster, has decided to move on from SCLD at the end of this month (May 2025).

Confirming the Chief Executive’s departure, Eddie McConnell, Chair of the Board of SCLD, said: “We are immensely grateful to Simon for the contribution he has made in his time with SCLD. He has built new relationships and provided us with a very clear assessment of what is needed to advance the strategy for achieving the fullest inclusion of people with learning disabilities in all aspects of their lives.  We wish him every success for the future.”

In responding to today’s announcement, Simon Webster said: “I want to wish SCLD continued success in its vital work on behalf of the learning disability community in Scotland. It has been a privilege to play a role in that work and I have been most grateful for the opportunity to support people with learning disabilities to access their rights.”

Simon will leave his post on the 30th May 2025 and SCLD has confirmed that Linda Mitchell, currently Head of Delivery at SCLD, will take on the role of Acting CEO in the interim.
