Evaluation of Dunfermline Advocacy Initiative
SCLD used an evaluation tool called Learning From Citizen Advocacy Programs. By interviewing advocates advocacy partners, staff, management committee and local stakeholders, we built up a picture of the difference this project was making to lives of people in West Fife who are at risk of being isolated and socially excluded.
Snapshot Report of Adult Learning Disability Services in Perth and Kinross
In 2007, Perth and Kinross published a Best Value Review of Adult Learning Disability Services. This report recommended a number of changes to these services. In short, the council started a three year programme of personalising the services. In 2009, SCLD interviewed a number of people who used these services and their families. This snapshot report shows what impact the changes to these services have made to their lives.
Access to Justice Event
Capability Scotland held an event to highlight how the justice system works for disabled people. SCLD consulted with the Speak Out Group in South Lanarkshire to get their views and feed them into the event.
Real Life Options Service User Forum
SCLD worked with Real Life Options to set up a Forum for people that they supported living in Glasgow. The aim is that the Forum will influence the way that RLO works.
SCLD trained RLO staff, recruited forum members, prepared a development course for members, and created a raft of materials for creating and sustaining a services users’ forum. We facilitated the first series of forum meetings in 2010, and are currently planning a second series.
Health Inform Website
NHS 24 are creating a new website. This will be the place that people can go to get good information about a lot of health topics. There will be a part of the website that SCLD are helping to create the part of the website that has information that people with learning disabilities and their families want.
