Material & Tools

We try to make meetings and consultation events easy to take part in. In this section we give you some examples of good practice that we adopt during consultancy work.
Pre Event Information Sheet
This should tell people why the meeting or event is happening and what they should expect from it. It is also important to tell people what will be expected of them. The details of the meeting like the date, time and venue should also be on the information sheet. It is also useful to give a contact name and phone number or email address, in case people want more information.
Post Event Information Sheet
This can be useful to help participants remember what the meeting or event was about or when telling other people about the event. It should have details about the what the meeting or event was about and what sort of information people were asked to provide. It should also tell people what will happen to the information they gave. It is also useful to give a contact name and phone number or email address, in case people want more information.
Consent Form
You should get consent from the people you are asking for information. The form should briefly explain what the information will be used for and should explain about confidentiality.
You can see an example consent form.
Accessible Questionnaire
If you are asking people to fill in a questionnaire you must make sure that it is easy to understand. Make sure the text is well spaced out and use pictures to show what the questions are about.
Accessible Programmes and Agendas
If your meeting or event has a programme or agenda, make it accessible by using pictures to help explain what will be discussed.
Group Member Information Form
If you are having regular meetings you should ask people to tell you some things about themselves. You will need to know their contact details to get in touch with them. Ask people if they need to get information in a particular way (in a large font, on yellow paper, in another language etc). It is useful to ask people how they like to be contacted. It is also important to find out if people have any access or dietary requirements.
