The Local Area Co-ordination (LAC) National Development Team started work in May and so far we have been working in four main areas:
Involving individuals and family carers
We have been asking people to help the project to stay on the right track by being part of our LAC National Reference Group.
We now have 11 people from the North, West, East and South of Scotland who have volunteered to help. The first meeting, to get to know each other, was in August.

National Reference Group member Angela Halpin said “I enjoyed the meeting. I hope it will make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities. We need more LACs”
The group also met in early September. We will be adding more information about the LAC National Reference Group soon.
Involving LACs and Community Connectors (LACs in the Highlands)
Following discussions with LACs, we organised a national gathering of LACs in Stirling on August 20th. LACs and their managers exchanged views and ideas at the meeting and did a PATH process to help plan the national development of LAC.
Finding out where LAC fits
We have been meeting with people from the Government, Local Authorities, NHS and the voluntary sector to make connections and find out h
ow LAC fits with their policies and approaches. This information will help
us to plan how LAC can develop across Scotland.

Finding out what LAC is there already
We have also been visiting LAC teams across Scotland to find out more about how they are working in each local area. We plan to create a Map of LAC in Scotland over the next few months so everyone can see what is happening where. This will also help us to keep track of how things change over time.
