Learning Disability Week Events
East Aryshire are running events for Learning Disbility Week from 19th - 25th June, including a football fun day at Cumnock Academy. You can find out more by downloading their leaflet here.........
South Lanarkshire are running a National Health Screening Project for people with learning disabilities event at the Alona Hotel, Strathclyde Park. It’s taking place on 22nd June between 10.00 & 1.30pm.
RNIB are hosting a parliamentary reception on 23rd June (6-8pm) on new research highlighting large number of people with learning disabilities whose sight problems go undiagnosed. You can find out more by visiting the RNIB website here......
ENABLE Scotland and Helensburgh & District Branch of ENABLE are holding a 2 day event during Learning Disability Week (21st-22nd June)
Day 1 is a free Conference Day around the theme of “Helensburgh & District’s Hidden Talent”. With expertise and help from Enable Scotland they are hosting interesting and topical workshops as well as networking opportunities for 150 people who use services, are looking for jobs, are lifelong carers, and other Enable connections from Argyll, Cumbernauld, and Glasgow. Day 2 is for fun and fundraising, organised and supported by Helensburgh ACE & Enable Scotland Services, it will include:
* Annual LD Week Coffee Morning
* Fancy Dress 5 Decade Conga
* Dates n Mates Disco (Tickets will be available from May 2011)
There will also be a some group paintings on show, annual Bowling Challenge, and other opportunities for people to meet up. Helensburgh's busy 50th Anniversary Celebration Programme will continue up until November, and will involve the regular Enable Branch clubs and groups as well as the local Enable Scotland Service and Helensburgh ACE.
