Alexandria referred herself after finding information on Local Area Co-ordination at her GP Surgery. Although Alexandria was very unhappy when we first met, I could see that she was caring and intelligent. She also loved her dogs.

At this time, life was very difficult for her. She was depressed and often found it very difficult to cope. She had a support package in place but she refused to allow this support to continue on a regular basis. This made her situation more desperate and she felt more isolated. Alexandria was not able to move on and take control of her life.

Over time, we created a good relationship, built on trust and honesty. This regular involvement enabled Alexandria to see that her life would be better if she accepted some support. She now has regular Housing Support which enables her to mange her letters, bills and finances.

Alexandria’s life has turned a corner. Her quality of life has improved. She has made significant positive changes and is pursuing her dreams and goals. Her confidence and ability has grown. She is attending a Literacy and Numeracy class and studying at college. She can now mange to go to the shopping centre on her own, even though it presents a real challenge for her. She is planning to write a book about her life and has set herself goals for the future, including going on holiday with her dogs and finding a publisher.

LAC has supported Alexandria to be able to lead the life she could only have dreamt of before and she has started to make her dreams become a reality.
