2008’s theme is all about the important stories people with learning disabilities and their families have to tell.

People with learning disabilities and their families often haven’t had the chance to talk about or find out about their pasts.  And we don’t often read about the experiences of people with learning disabilities in Scotland’s history.

We think all these stories are important because they tell us really valuable things like:

  • how services have changed over time
  • how people with disabilities’ treatment has changed
  • how Scotland and people’s attitudes have changed
  • why it’s important to do things differently in the 21st Century

By looking at the past we can often learn a lot and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes in the future.

Sometimes looking at the past can just be fun and a good chance to celebrate what you, your family, your group or your organisation has achieved.
